Specific aims of the
"IT Can-Help" Network are to
-
assist Professional providers of help, such as Communication Aid Centres
(CAC's), Speech & Language Therapists, together with AbilityNet to
establish this extra net to catch people with severe disabilities to give help
at a more local level
- provide Volunteers who are computer literate, to visit disabled people
in their own homes or Day Centres, to assist them in over coming problems with
their computer hardware or software.
- finance this provision of Volunteers, by company Sponsorship from many
companies in the IT Industry or using IT in a big way. These funds will cover
Volunteer Insurance plus transport costs national and local publicity etc. for
running such a disability assistance scheme. Thereby making this service
totally free to all the disabled community.
- provide each Volunteer with an Identity Card, complete with
photograph, for showing before access is obtained to any home.
- recruit sufficient Volunteers in each County, to service
shceme.
- provide Third Party Indemity cover, for all Volunteers in an
operational County, plus limited damage cover for each
Volunteer.
- expand the scheme from initial Counties, with extra Counties, when
additional Sponsorship is obtained. The ultimate aim being a Panel in each of
the 70 Counties of the UK in time!!!
